If you are going to be late or need to cancel your appointment, please contact the CARE Learning Center by phone at 626-529-8264 or by email at [email protected].
Students may schedule an appointment at least two (2) hours before the target tutoring appointment time. If a student would like to schedule an appointment less than two (2) hours before the target tutoring appointment time and there is an appointment available, students can call the CARE Learning Center at 626-529-8264 to schedule.
Appointments start at the beginning of the hour and end at the 45-minute mark of the hour (for example, if an appointment is at 1:00pm, it will start at 1:00pm and end at 1:45pm).
If a student arrives more than 15 minutes late to their scheduled appointment, the tutoring appointment may be counted as a missed appointment. Students should contact the CARE Learning Center if they are running late or there are any extenuating circumstances that affects making their appointment.
Cancelation of any appointment should occur before the scheduled appointment. If an appointment is not canceled in time or the student does not make their appointment, the appointment may be counted as a missed appointment. Students should contact the CARE Learning Center if there were any extenuating circumstances that affected making their appointment.
Students who miss three (3) scheduled appointments will not be able to schedule future appointments for the current academic session (7 weeks). In this case, the student’s account will have a hold placed on it and will need to contact the CARE Learning Center to have the hold lifted from their account.
Notifications: Students can request that the CARE Learning Center notify their instructors that they utilized CARE Learning Center services. This includes workshop and writing support group attendance. Students must email their request to [email protected] with the instructor's name, email, and a short message giving permission to notify the instructor of the student's use of CARE Learning Center services. Once the CARE Learning Center has received the email granting permission to share the student's information, the instructor will be notified of the student's use of CARE Learning Center services.
Assessments: Tutors are not permitted to assist students with midterm, take-home, or final assessments without written and signed permission from their instructor. The instructor may also email [email protected] to give written permission.
Academic Integrity: Tutors may only assist students with their original work. Students are not allowed to pass off work of others as their own in any manner. Plagiarism is a serious violation of Pacific Oaks' Academic Integrity Policy found in the Academic Catalog & Student Handbook.
